Freedive Thurgau Logo Resdesign
Freedive Thurgau is based in Switzerland, and they offer diving lessons and fins from all top brands from the world. They has their logo designed once they started the business and later on the business grew and it became a brand in the market of Switzerland. They noticed few problems with their old logo such as:
Less visiblity from distance.
Not scalable enough.
Not readable too.
Change Konstanz in their old logo to Thurgau in the new logo
No horizontal version of the logo
But their old logo/ icon was sort of familiar and known to their clients. So, they came to us and they wanted to get the job in such a way that it solves all of the problems mentioned above and at the same time does not move away from the orognal logo. So, their audience can still tell that this is Freedive Thurgau.

Freedive Thurgau Old Vs New Logo
As you can see in the image, the old logo had a blue square kind of line that was connecting the icon and the letters of the logo. And the kerning was not done properly. The old name was Konstanz, and they wanted the new logo to have thurgau instead. Each letters in freedive was really hard to read in a mid size area and became unscalable for the business. This logo was the standalone version itself. Having no varities such as a horizontal variant became very hard for the brand to use the same logo in multiple applications.
So, as we had to keep the vibe and feel same of the brand. Our team after doing a close study and several meetings decided that we will go with the same icon as it resembles waves and can be minimalist and timeless too. So, the team decided to increase the spacing between the waves and the border circle to make it visible when scaled down. We changed the font and worked with the kerning too. We incorporated a subtle color change with the "i" in the freedive word. And we provided variants of the logo such as stand slone icon, horizontal and vertical orientation for the logo etc. To make it a complete and functional set.
The client loved our work! And so did we.

Functional
A logo has to be functional. By that we mean when we take logo design our brand design projects in our hand we aim to create a full functional set for that brand.
For example-
A vertical orientation of the logo.
A horizontal one
The stand alone logo itself
A stand alone wordmark if needed according to the brands visual goals.
A seal version of the logo
Different color variations for all the above mentioned options for various applications.
Once we check all of these things we can call it a functional logo set.
That's exactly what we did for Freedive Thurgau.
